It is by our father’s request that no Obituary be printed and/or read. His desire was that we print and share his legacy of love
based upon the Scripture below
I CORINTHIANS 13
Though I speak with the tongue of men and of angels, and have not charity,
I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries,
and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
and have not charity, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity,
it profiteth me nothing.
Charity suffereth long; and is kind; charity envious not.
charity vaunted not itself; it is not puffed up.
Doth not behave itself unseemly; seeketh not her own.
is not easily provoked; thinketh no evil.
Rejoice not in iniquity; but rejoiceth in truth.
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hoped all things, endures all things.
Charity never faileth, but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail.
whether there be tongues, they shall cease.
whether there be knowledge, they shall vanish away.
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
But when that which is perfect is come,
then that which is in part shall be done away.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child,
I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
For now we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face:
Now, I know in part, but then shall I know even as also I am known.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three,
but the greatest of these is charity.
Although Allen L. King, Sr., had a prosperous career with Bell Telephone Communications (Verizon); enjoyed coaching basketball for the Bell Telephone Athletic Association; was honored to serve as a Marine; was proud to be a Mason, loved serving the Lord as a Deacon at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and Christ Christian Community Church; was actively involved in The Twin Oaks Farms Civic Association, as well as other community service endeavors, Allen’s love for the Lord and his family was most important to him. He did not want to be remembered for the work of his hands because sharing his love and life with his wife, Florastine for 57 years, raising their three children, Allen L. King, Jr., Stacy Marie, and Dana Denise, as well as loving his daughter-in-law, Carol, and his 2 sons-in-law Vaughn and Charles; and his 10 grandchildren and 2 great grands is what he cherished the most. Therefore, Allen’s desire was to be remembered for his legacy of love. It is his legacy of love that he spoke of the most. Those who knew him knew that every conversation was going to conclude with “Keep Love Alive.” As he would say, the initials of “Keep Love Alive” (KLA) and the initials to his name Allen L. King (ALK) was not a coincidence. He believed that his message to the world was always meant to be “Keep Love Alive” because the converse of KLA was ALK.
ALK/Keep Love Alive was born in Kinston, North Carolina to Rev. Richard King (resting in peace) and Callie Mae (resting in peace) on June 10, 1933. He shared his childhood with his brother, Richard (resting in peace), and Charlotte Christine (resting in peace). Allen L. King, Sr. shared his legacy of love with his wife, Florastine (resting in peace), his children, Allen L. King, Jr (Carol), Stacy Marie (Vaughn), Dana Denise (Charles); his 10 grandchildren, Joshua David, Ahyana Janiece, Rachel Elizabeth (resting in peace), Allen L. King, III, Matthew Richard Evan, Imani Jean-Marie, Jasmine Olivia-Noél, Maya Callie Christine, Nina Marie, Elijah Lloyd; and his 2 great grandchildren, Miles and Jalen, as well as 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Louise (Nate, Sr.), and Joyce Blanche and 2 goddaughters, Cheryl Lynn and Florastine Joyce. Allen’s legacy of love is also shared by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
