The Obituary
Arthur Danady Sr., son of the late Austin Dandy and the late Mamie Dandy (West) was born February 6, 1934 in Edgefield, South Carolina. He departed this life on Sunday, Decmeber 26, 2021. He was the eldest of five children from this union.
Arthur Sr. attended the Trenton Public Schools in Edgefield County, South Carolina. After completing his education, Arthur began working to begin his next achievements in life.
While residing in South Carolina, Arthur met Wilhemina Griffin. During the courtship they married on July 14, 1953 and had four wonderful children. Arthur Sr. is preceded in death by his late wife Wilhemina Dandy.
At a young age Arthur Sr., decided to move his wife and two oldest children up North to Philadelphia, PA. which later became “home” to his growing family.
As he resided in Philadelphia, PA. Arthur’s first place of employment was at Friend’s Central School located in Wynnewood, Lower Merion Pa. for several years as a custodian then later became a bus driver for the school students. Arthur also worked at Penn Fruit which later became ACME Markets where combined he was employed for over forty years. Arthur Sr. was well known by neighbors and friends that whenever you needed painting, extermination and other crafts performed he was the person to call. His last place of employment was at Pathmark where he later retired from.
Arthur Sr. joined the Masonic Organization of Brotherhood in 1961 where he was an active member for 60 years. He was the Worshipful Master of Hiram lodge #5 from 19654-1967. During his tenure Arthur Sr. was highly respected and well recognized for his services. Arthur joined Vine Memorial Baptist Church on March 28, 1982 and became an active member of the Usher Board.
Arthur Sr. was a very unique individual. He was strong willed and an excellent provider to his family,. Anyone who had a conversation with Arthur learned he was a philosopher of life and very analytical. He was a professor of hard work and money management. Arthur Sr. had an adamant perception of life with a rare sense of humor. If he cracked a joke and made you laugh; he liked you.
Arthur Sr. was an original distinguished gentleman who dressed with a s tyle of fashion and class that was unmatched.
Arthur Sr. leaves to mourn with wonderful, cherished memories his tow daughters Grace Dandy and Vena Dandy, his son Kevin Dandy Sr. Yvette Dandy (Daughter-in-law), his brother Wallace Dandy Sr, his sister Bessie Dandy, 2 Granddaughters Kiara Dandy and Arneshia Dandy, his grandson Kevin Dandy Jr,m two great-grandchildren Grayson Ingram and Karter Dandy and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and extended family members. Arthur Sr. is preceded in death by his son Arthur Dandy Jr., his grandson Terrell Dandy (who gained his wings on the same day), his sister Fannie Mae Dandy and his brother Collis Dandy.
