LIFE STORY Barbara Elizabeth Spencer Jones,  77, Retired Naval Military Activity Center Administrator  Barbara Elizabeth Spencer Jones, formerly of Camden, New Jersey, spent her life in Philadelphia PA, and died on Saturday, February 13 at Lankenau Hospital where she suffered a massive stroke.  "Barb", as she was affectionately called, was the daughter of Bernard C. Spencer and Ida M. Oliver and had 4 siblings, Vivian, William, Elaine and Shirley.  Ms. Jones was educated in the Philadelphia public schools and graduated with honors from West Philadelphia High School. She received advanced training and certifications from her longtime employment at the Naval Support Activity Base on Robbins Street where she processed the procurement of goods and services that were sent to military families and military bases all over the world. Her record of service was distinguished.  She spent over three decades serving the Military.  Ms. Jones met and married Curtis Joseph Jones, Sr. and this union produced two sons, Curtis Joseph Jones, Jr. and Keith Jeffrey Jones whom her world revolved around.  She boasted about her sons to all who listened, as she was very outspoken. They divorced but remained good friends. She loved her family above all else.  All of the 1700 block of Peach Street became her extended family of whom she loved. Her grandchildren made their way to her house on Peach Street after school for visits. They loved her warmth and colorfulness.  Ms. Barb was a child advocate, volunteering everyday for years at the Mann Elementary school, teaching and tutoring youth. She belonged to the Haddington Senior Center where she found camaraderie with her fellow seniors. She loved to dance and entertain her friends with her quick wit and humor. As a basketball player herself, she enjoyed watching her team, "the Philadelphia 76ers" - we don't think she missed a game!  She also tuned into Channel 64 to watch City Council hearings and often gave her candid opinion of them. Helpful Hanna gave to anyone who knocked on her door - she simply loved people.  Ms. Jones is survived by her sons, Curtis Jones and Keith Jones, daughter in law Jazelle Jones, her loving grand children,  Gary, Gina, Curtis III, Kasie, Keith Jr., Dominique, Charmaine, Kevin, and Omar. A host of great grand children, nieces and nephews.  A celebration of life will be held at ----- time ---- day --- date, at Pinn Memorial Church, 2251 N. 54th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19131.  Burial will be private.
