 Life Story

The Obituary

BONITA Y. BEST was born on August 21, 1966, to parents Gloria Flanagan and James Zuber, the third

of six children. She passed away suddenly on October 2, 2022, at the University of Pennsylvania

Hospital.

Bonita was educated in the Philadelphia public school system and graduated from Ben Franklin High

School. As a child, she was considered a troublemaker but playful and loved joking with her siblings.

Then as an adult, she was known as a go-getter, and a hustler, working various jobs from housekeeping

to under-the-table gigs. Bonita did anything she could to support her family.

Considered to be loving, yet stern, she always made sure her family was cared for. Her life made her

resilient which was an attribute she passed down to her sons. Aside from being hardworking, she

enjoyed spending time with her grandson, movies, painting, art, traveling, cracking jokes, and wine. She

was quite the artist and would paint the walls of her children’s bedrooms beautifully. Later in life, she

became expressive in her fashion as well. Bonita was especially close to her late father and was a

hardcore sports fan of Philadelphia teams and loved going to games.

Finally, she had a certain fondness for animals, specifically, her cats and her son Tyheed’s dog. She

was fun-loving and passionate about the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s R&B music, and don’t forget her love

for knick knacks. She was a caring person who will be sorely missed.

She was predeceased by, her father, James Zuber.

Bonita is survived by: her three sons, Maalik Wolfe, Zaire Best, and Tyheed Wolfe; she also leaves

behind one grandson, Josiah Wolfe; her mother Gloria Best; her siblings, Jacquelyn Best, Jeffrey Best,

Rosalind Zuber, James Zuber Jr., and Remenia Zuber; a host of nieces, nephews family and friends.
