Cynthia Gail Belcher was born March 20, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA as the 1st child of Earl and Novella Pearson. Cynthia departed this life on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the care of Seasons Hospice in Phoenixville Hospital.
The family resided in West Philadelphia, PA and later moved to Lansdowne, PA.
Educated in the public school system and private high school, Cynthia was an excellent student and natural leader. She attended Morgan State University and did course work at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia with studies in Business Administration.
Cynthia attended and was married at St. Matthew AME Church in West Philadelphia. She worked extensively with the youth there as well as in her neighborhood during summer youth programs.
Cynthia worked for over 25 years within the banking industry functioning as a Lease Administrator and Credit Manager. Cynthia held those positions with Germantown Savings Bank and Girard (now Mellon) Bank. Cynthia was respected and loved by her many friends and coworkers for her always pleasant and exceedingly kind and professional demeanor. Her interests in the arts included music, film and literature.
One of her many community awards and commendations was that of being inducted into the Four Chaplains Legion of Honor Membership for her service to the community as a banker.
Known to her family and friends as Gail, she will be greatly missed. Even as her own health challenges increased through the years she would often inquire as to the welfare of her old friends which was indicative of her truly kind and thoughtful nature.
Cynthia is survived by her husband of 43 years, Edward M. Belcher, Jr; her siblings and their spouses Earl P. Pearson, DMD and his wife Deborah of East Norriton, Mrs. Lydia P. Abdullah (Pearson) and her husband Gary of State College, PA and Mr. Michael K. Pearson of Philadelphia.
