Obituary for Doris Snell
Doris Snell, the daughter of the late Henry and Louise Snell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 12, 1929. She was called to rest on Monday, January 16, 2012.
Her education took place in the public schools of Philadelphia and Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Swarthmore HS and attended several business schools before graduating from Cheyney State College in 1974.
In her early youth, she accepted Christ and was baptized into the fellowship of Miller Memorial Baptist Church. Upon moving to Swarthmore, she was active in the Sunday School, Ushers and Choir at Wesley AME Church. Returning to Philadelphia in 1953, she joined Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church and was active in several organizations.
Doris also for many years was an active member of the Eastern Stars, serving as an Officer at the Chapter and District levels. She was a member of Rose of Sharon Chapter #80, O.E.S, P.H.A; Ella S. Davis Court #15 Order of Cyrenes and the American Legion Auxillary, George T. Cornish Unite 292
She leaves cherished memories to a host of family members and friends.
A viewing will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 10:00 AM Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church located at 5620 Wyalusing Avenue. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Final resting place to conclude at Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Broomall, PA.
