It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of Elaine Delores Corbett Mansfield, on September 9, 2022.
She was a dedicated educator in the Neshaminy School District for 38 years. She retired in 1997.
ELAINE DELORES CORBETT MANSFIELD, was born on August 7, 1934 to Edward H. Corbett,
Sr. and Hester Marie Darden Corbett in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While Elaine was in elementary
school the family relocated to Glassboro, New Jersey, where she graduated from Clayton High
School. She went on to attend Cheyney State University where she graduated with a degree in
elementary education.
Elaine worked for the Neshaminy School District at Walter S. Miller Elementary School for thirty-
eight years. During this time she met and married Larry Mansfield. They shared a common affinity
for the sport of bowling.
Elaine enjoyed traveling abroad. She ventured to Japan, Germany, England, Spain, Scotland and
several other locations. She took cruises and was always ready for an adventure. Elaine was also
very creative. She loved to sew, arrange plants/flowers and work in her garden.
She attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Philadelphia for many years.
She was lively, funny and very opinionated. She loved her “ladies crew”, several friends who would
get together regularly and celebrate each other’s birthdays. They would travel to casinos, the
Philadelphia Flower Shows, jazz concerts, museums, plays, restaurants and more. Her favorite
cable station was TLC. She got a kick out of saying those three letters into her voice remote. She
was a constant supporter of the performing arts at the Kimmel Center. She would always remember
the birthdays of her family members and send lavish gifts as well as take them out to dinner.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her nephew, Edward of New York; her niece, Marisa of
Pennsylvania; her godson, Jerry of New Jersey; her goddaughter, Whitney of Pennsylvania; her
peer cousins Gwendolyn, Serena, Malcolm and Anne; other cousins, friends and neighbors.
Lovingly Submitted,
The Darden & Corbett Families
