Our Beloved Erika Tamika Swinson (nee Crawford) , or E-Roc as she was affectionately known, was born on August 31, 1976 TO Sarah Elaine (nee Olney) and Howard Douglass Crawford in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
She was educated in the Philadelphia public school systems where she attended H.C. Lea School and played the violin. Erika then went on to attend West Philadelphia High School, where she gained her diploma.
Growing up, Erika was a member of St. Barnabas and Haddington Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Youth Organization and Girls Friendly. Erika was also a Girl scout in her younger years where sh4e enjoyed camping, candlelight ceremonies and excelled at Arts and Crafts. When she was a little girl she loved spending summers in Delaware with her cousins, going to the beach and the fair. Upon the birth of her twin brothers, Marc and Marcus Davis, she became a godmother.
Erika cooked all her life. Her first job was at KFC where her love of cooking began, and she found out the Colonel’s Secret Recipe. She loved coking for her family gatherings and especially making sure that Miss Etheline had her chicken. In 2017, she joined St. Joe’s University as a cook and made a family there. She especially loved Joy and Tanicka.
Erika reconnected and fell in love with William Swinson, III, whom she went to elementary school with. She always did have a crush on Billy. After this reconnection, all her dreams began to come true. They married on September 29, 2015, and from that union she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, William Douglass Swinson IV, on March 19, 2016. She loved her “Pnut” with everything in her and she was a devoted loving wife and mother. Erika loved her family and enjoyed traveling and discovering new things with them. She was able to manifest her many hearts desires.
Erika and Billy got saved and baptized at Beulah Baptist Church where they also received the Right Hand of Fellowship under Pastor William Henley.
Never one to turn down anyone Erika was always there to help and always the one to reach out and bring her family together. And no matter where they part was, she made sure that New Kids on The Block was playing.
Erika departed this life on Earth on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Erika fought a hard fight to stay here with us, but the Lord saw fit to take her Home.
She was preceded in death by: her mother, father, and her father-in-law, William Swinson,, Jr.
Erika leaves to mourn; her husband, William Swinson IIIL their children, Shaqui Mears, Anadia Mears, Valaysa Swinson and William Douglass Swinson IV; her siblings, Syretta Crawford, Marc Davis, Jr., Marcus Davis, Dante White, Shelice White, Jasmine White and Jean White; her stepfather, Marc Davis, Sr.; mother-in-law, Etheline Swinson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cornelius Swinson, Albert Swinson, Dawn Swinson, Crystal Swinson, Simmone Williams and Wyness Hardnett; and her best friend, Aquila Irons; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, unless, and friends.

Have the florist deliver your selection to the funeral home no later than 8:30 a.m. the day of the service.
