Life Story
Floretta Williams the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Bishop) Jacobs was born on March 12, 1931 in Roxobel, NC. She was one of eight children. She departed this life and slipped into eternal rest on Friday November 20, 2020 at home.
Floretta obtained her education is Roxobel, NC and graduated high school. Upon completing her schooling she made her way to Philadelphia, Pa. in 1951. She lived many years with her sister Josie Stewart. Neither of them had children, but they grew attached to a poodle named “Henry”, who was treated just like their child. Floretta married her first husband William Gould on September 26, 1953. She met her second husband Robert Williams and Married on June 27, 1976.
Floretta loved to eat fried chicken, coconut cake with pineapples, cook fish on Friday with cornbread and make potato salad for family gatherings. Floretta loved to dance and she was often called the queen of bop.
Floretta first job in Philadelphia was in the Pack Room at Lankenua Hospital in Ardmore. She was also a supervisor. She became a Home Health Care worker for Bayada Nurses for several years after retiring until she left due to illness. Floretta was an active member of the eastern Star for many years. She held several positions and was given certificates for recognition and devotion within the organization. When they would have her sister Josie makes her evening gowns.
Floretta is proceeded in death by her sisters and brothers James Jacobs, Wilford Jacobs, Josie Mae Stewart, Maggie Louise Powell, Vernice Pough and Robert Alton Jacobs.
Floretta leaves to mourn: one sister Mary E. Powell of Centreville, VA. One sister in law patience Jacobs of Philadelphia, PA one uncle William Whims of Silver Springs, MD, eight nieces, five nephew, other relatives, friends and long time neighbors of the 6100 block of master street.
