FRANCIS DEMETRIUS LINDSEY was born on September 28, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert J. Linsey, Sr. and Bessie Lindsey. He was one of five siblings: Shirley Bullard, Barbara Lindsey, Robert J. Lindsey, Jr., George Lindsey, and Diedre Lindsey. Robert was educated at an early age, in Philadelphia parochial schools and he graduated from Overbrook High School.
Francis was a Mental Health Counselor at the Woods school and later employed at Presbyterian Hospital caring for all that was under his charge.
He was most commonly known as “Big Frank” or “Big Daddy” amongst friends and family. He was a true Philadelphia sports fan who brought his passion of the game to upcoming youth in the community. At a young age he coached little league football and basketball for St. Rose of Lima. He later became President of the Men of Tuskin organization and was considered the “Mayor of Hill top.” Through the organization he was able to mentor all sports, social and youth events. He made great effort to try and ensure a safe atmosphere for the next generation. Giving back to the community through fundraisers, charity events and organized children’s activities.
He was the lead singer of the family band “CIA” Caught In the Act. Using his big voice to create and contribute to beautiful music. He loved to sing and did so often, delighting those who heard him. Big Frank had a big heart. He was always willing to help others giving his time, money, knowledge or advice. He was always there to listen and to make you laugh by telling a joke. He enjoyed hanging with friends, but loved his family and took great pride in taking care of them. He was a good son, father, brother and friend. He was a great man. Frank was called home on November 21, 2016 at Presbyterian Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Dimetrius and Raheem; one adopted daughter and niece, Natasha; five grandchildren, Kaia, Nasyer, Faqee, Tia and Nyla; two great-grandchildren, Kairo and Norrell; five siblings, Shirley, Barbara, Robert Jr., George and Derdre; one daughter-in-law, Kim; one brother-in-law, Vincent; two sisters-in-law, Alice and Donna; one uncle, Lester; one aunt, Catherine; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
