The Obituary
Fraulein Neilson Lamar was born on December 30, 1923 to Herman McCullers and Thelma Miles. Fraulein grew up in West Philadelphia with her sisters, Jewel Medearis (Harvey) and Beady Roberson (Gordon) and brother, Elisha McCullers (Elizabeth) all of whom preceded her in death.
Fraulein was educated in the Philadelphia public school systems. After finishing school, Fraulein worked at the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot, and then decided that Cosmetology was her calling. She completed the Apex Cosmetology Program, and passed all of her exams with flying colors. She traveled with her fellow cosmetologists, attending many hair shows, until her health failed her.
The opportunity arose for a position with the Federal Government and she seized the opportunity. She took the test and passed it, and was hired as a payroll clerk until her retirement. During her retirement, she was very active with the Senior Centers throughout Philadelphia and loved to participate in their activities.
Fraulein met and married Leroy LaMar and from this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by, and will meet again, her daughters, Thelma L. Butts and Marie Lacy.
On January 2, 1977, Fraulein joined White Rock Baptist Church by Restoration. She was a faithful member who belonged to the Sheepfold of Micah/John.
Fraulein leaves to cherish precious memories: a daughter, Cornelia Washington of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Fraulein Lacy, Danielle Butts, LaMar Butts, Lamonte Butts, Augustus Washington, Anthony Washington, and Dana Comer; eight great-grandchildren and one-great-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth McCullers; a host of nieces and nephews; two dedicated neighbors, Edward Gilmore and Leonard Taylor; and the White Rock Baptist Church Family.
