Obituary for Gloria D. Robertson
Gloria Dickerson Robertson began her journey on November 9, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was called home to glory on September 14, 2012. Gloria attended the Philadelphia public school system and graduated from West Philadelphia High School in 1952.
After graduation, she was employed by Sears Roebuck on Roosevelt Boulevard for several years, and later continued her work as an employee of the mailing industry for 25 years Advanced Direct Marketing.
Gloria was united in marriage in 1955 to Van Robertson, and from that union 2 children were born - Deidre (Dee) and Kevin Robertson. Deidre and Kevin blessed her with 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
As a young child Gloria joined Vine Memorial Baptist Church. She later joined Sharon Baptist Church where she and Van attended until her health declined.
Gloria loved and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was known for her delicious cooking. You could often find her sitting around the kitchen table telling funny stories to her friends and family. She had a special way of making those around her laugh. She also loved to travel, attend plays, listen to music, especially jazz and shopping for her grandchildren.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband Van; her children Deidre and Kevin; her grandchildren Erik, Kelly, Donte, Kevin (Brandon), LaShonda, Christopher and Christian; her great-grandchildren Khaliyah, Kylee (1), Jaren, Kylee (2) and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, September 20, 2012 10:00 AM at Wood Funeral Home, Inc. - 5537-39 West Girard Avenue. The funeral service will start at 11:00 AM. Final resting place to conclude at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA.
