Obituary for Inez Dubose
In Loving Memory
In the early morning hours of November 4, 2011, in Philadelphia, PA the Lord called his servant, Inez Chappell Dubose home to eternal rest.
Inez was born on March 29, 1927 in Brewton, Alabama. She was the daughter on Callie Lovelace Chappell and George Chappell, both of whom preceded her in death. Also, preceding her in death were 4 brothers, Jerry M. Chappell III, George Chappell, Joseph Chappell, Samuel Chappell and 1 sister Emmaline Chappell Stallworth. Her grandson Isaiah Bryant, III also preceded her in death.
Inez received her education at Southern Normal HS in Brewton, Alabama and graduated on May 25, 1945. Inez accepted Christ and became a Christian during her teen years, and as an adult she joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA where she was a long time member until her death.
Inez was employed in the garment industry at the Botany 500 in Philadelphia, PA where she retired after 29 years of dedicated service.
Inez was an active member of the Sunshine Senior Center and was usually among the 1st to arrive. She enjoyed playing dominoes and volunteered to serve seniors during mealtime. She was an avid participant in exercise classes at the center. Inez took a special interest in morning fitness walks along Cobbs Creek Parkway with her friend and neighbor, Mary Jane. She enjoyed traveling, shopping at the mall and dining at the Cheesecake Factory.
Inez possessed a warm and caring spirit. Although she did not have much when she came from Brewton to Philadelphia, she opened up her home to many relatives and friends who migrated from the south and needed a place to stay. She took great pride in preparing Sunday dinners and wasn't satisfied until everyone was well fed. Visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on weekends and holidays warmed her heart and brought a smile to her face.
She leaves to mourn 2 children, James Ray Dubose(Patricia) and Gladys Jean Bryant of Philadelphia, PA; 2 grandchildren, Toi F. Bryant of Elkins Park, PA and Andre W. Dubose of Towson, MD; 2 great-grandchildren, Nataiya Bryant and Leticia Goode of Elkins Park, PA; 3 sisters in law Patricia Chappelle of Boothwyn, PA, Gloria Chappell of Philadelphia, PA and Sadie Lewis of Brewton, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
There will be a viewing Monday, November 14, 2011 9:00AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church - 5732 Race Street with funeral services following at 11:00AM. Final resting place will be Shadey Grove Cemetery in Brewton, Alabama.
