Life Story
James D. Johnson II was born on November 4, 1967 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the eldest child of late James D. Johnson I and Rosemary Tunewald Johnson. Charlie as he was so affectionately known was educated in the Philadelphia School District and a graduate of University City High School.
Charlie started his career with his passion in cooking and was employed by Campbell Soup Co and the IRS through the Marriott food industry. Later he drew interest in a new career as a professional bill collector and consultant for over eighteen years. Charlie worked for several well-known companies throughout his career like NCO Financial, Wells Fargo, Sallie Mae and Navient. He also ventured in banking, working for Santander Bank as a personal banker. Charlie was passionate in helping people. Charlie loved politics, world history and loved to travel. Let’s not forget his gift in frying fish.
Charlie met the love of his life Michele at the young age of 22. They were inseparable. When you see Charlie you seen Michele. Charlie loved his siblings, always the Big brother no matter how old they were. He also kept in close contact with all of his other family members. He was born and raised up in Christianity and received his teachings at the Church of Faith, Inc. under Bishop Claude R. Barnes. Charlie gave his life over to Christ on December 31, 1999. He served on the Pastors Aide board, he was a YPCW counselor, member of the Men’s choir the Usher board and Ordained as a Deacon.
Charlie is cherished by his wife Michele Shedrick Johnson, 1 daughter- Shemeka T., 1 son- Michael F., 7 grandchildren- Hope, Miyah, KaDynce, Anthony, Lanaisha, Sidney, Noi’a. 1 son in-law - Eric T. 1 brother – Stephon J., 3 sisters – Stephanie V., Josa’lyn J., Pamela J., 1 mother in-law, 1 sister in-law, 1 brother in- law, 4 nieces, 2 nephews, and a host of relatives, friends and a loving church family.
