The Obituary
The legacy of Joan A. Robinson was one lived to the fullest. Joan was born on January 12, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to Nellie Frances Bridgett and Albert Bailey. She was educated in the Chester SCchool system and received a Business Administration certification from OIC Philadelphia. Joan spent most of her younger years in Asbury Park, New Jersey where she met and married Precy Robinson who preceded her in death. She spent amny years working in the Hotel industry in Asbury Park, NJ and worked as a Professional Garment Presser for several Clearners in the Philadelphia area. Joan was a devoted and loving mother who enjoyed family gatherings. She had an open door policy. Family and friends would visit every holiday and on Sunday’s to fill up on great food and genuine love. Joan lived on the 5800 block of Pemberton street for over 40 years. She was a great neighbor and friend who would do anything for anyone. Her home was where you could stay and get a hot meal at any time. Joan raised all her grandchildren and took care of her siblings when needed. Always supportive and kind one who sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Anyone who knew Joan, knew that she had a fear of heights and small places. She would only travel by car, bus, or train. One thing is for certain, don’t let the phobias and the small body frame fool you, Joan was very strong and charismatic with a plash of sarcasm. She had no filter and would tell things like it was whether you liked it or not. Joan’s strength was second to none. She was the glue that held the family together. Joan was tryly the matriarch of the family who will truly be missed. Joan’s Legacy will continue to live on through her daughters, Terri and Sherry, grandchildren, Turhaun, Latoya, Aquil, Jahnae, James, and great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Josiah, and soon to arrive baby Marquis Carter, siblings, Pualine, Dorothy, Lorraine, Bernice and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joan was proceeded in death by her parents, son Mack “Tiny”, was proceeded in death by her parents, son Mack “Tiny.” Grandson Andre, siblings James, Neville, Alice and Vera.
