Obituary for Jocelyn E. Paul
Life Reflections:
Jocelyn Eulyn Beharry was bro in Diego Martin on the island of Trinidad and Tobago on March 14, 2021 to Matthew and Benita Beharry. Jocelyn had an active childhood with a full house of fourteen brothers and sisters. As the third oldest, once Jocelyn finished high school, she attended the Caribbean Secondary Education School in which she received a certificate for sewing. She would continue to endeavor over the years as she worked in many shops as a seamstress making wedding dresses, gowns, etc. When she was not working, Jocelyn had a passion for cooking, crocheting and her personal favorite, watching wrestling and beauty pageants.
Staying true to her hometown roots, Jocelyn created her own wedding dress and married the late David Boyin Paul in Trinidad on May 21, 1961. They were married for fifty-two years and had three beautiful children, Stanley, Kathleen and Richard. After building a life for themselves in Trinidad, Jocelyn embarked on a bigger journey, moving to the untied States in 1970 with her husband and three young children at the time.
Jocelyn took on this new country but stayed true to the same passions she possessed in her homeland. She worked as a caregiver and seamstress for multiple clients, the companies of FW Woolworth, Mary Knoll Fathers and Brothers, and Silver Lining Home Health Care. Jocelyn left behind old friends only to make new ones with Cindy Fox and the late Muriel (Toni) Doffoh.
Jocelyn joined Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in 1975 and Saint Raymond Church in 1979. She was a devoted Catholic who often volunteered her kind nature, wit and reliable services for various causes and donated to numerous charities during her lifetime. When she was not volunteering, she attended many church functions. Nonetheless, there was nothing she loved more than being around her family and friends. You would often see her socializing and cooking with those she loved most such as her late brother Edward Beharry. As she thrived in so many areas professionally and personally, Jocelyn took on new adventures traveling, where she would often venture to Trinidad, Canada, New York, and various bus excursions (especially to the casinos).
She was known by many as a caring, giving, compassionate, warm, generous, supportive, and humble woman. Those who were blessed to be in her presence, found Jocelyn to be a sweet, lovable, loyal woman who was a joy to be around. Her smile was infectious. She was one of a kind, genuinely caring for those that came into her life, without hesitation. This is a rare quality that will surely be missed.
Jocelyn had several siblings preceding her in passing. They were Violet, Elton, Philbert, Bradman, Edward, Margaret, Cecil, John, Norbert and Jonathan.
Jocelyn leaves to cherish; her surviving loved ones, brother, Sandiford; sisters, Jennifer and Linda; sisters-in-law, Zalaikha and Diane; sons, Stanley and Richard; daughter Kathleen; grandchildren, Stanley, Jr., Jermaine, Niysha, Ayshia, Jocelyn, David, Joseph, and Gabriel; great0grandchildren, Logan Emmerson and Valor; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family in Trinidad, Canada, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
