Keith M. Mitchell was born on December 20, 1959 in Philadelphia Pa. to the
late Harold Mitchell and Joan {Edwards} Mitchell. Keith was the third of six
children. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Michael Smith.
In February 1999, Keith married Lavada Green, from this union Jahel Ari
Mitchell was born in February 2003. They remained married until Keith’s passing,
close and continually in each other's company.
Keith was educated within the Philadelphia School district; upon completion
he joined the U.S. Army in 1981. In his early years Keith could be found on the
basketball court, as he was truly athletic and competitive. Keith was known to
speak his mind, and could be talkative when he wanted. Keith loved barbequing,
watching “Law and Order”, CSI, SVU and host of police shows. Keith worked in
the Healthcare field where he remained until November 2024.
Keith leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Lavada D. Mitchell, daughters
Joia Mitchell, Christina Mitchell, and Jahel Mitchell, sons DeMarcus {Nicole}
Cooper, and Hykeem Mitchell. Keith also leaves his heart's children that he raised,
Sandy Couch, James Couch, Curtis Couch, Zar’Lier Green, and Louis Green.
Brothers, Harold Mitchell, Wayne {Tony} Mitchell, Sisters, Charlotte Wroton, and
Tammy {Craig}Johnson. Keith also leaves grandchildren, one aunt {Viv}, five
nephews, three nieces, and a host of cousins, and friends.
Keith’s presence was powerful, his love unwavering, and his spirit
unbreakable. He will be remembered not only for his strength and convictions, but
also for his quiet protection, steady love, and the warmth he gave his family..
