Obituary of Lewis Allen
Lewis Allen, The son of the late Robert and Virginia Allen, was born on September 11, 1939. The Lord called him home on August 11, 2022, We had recently celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary. Lewis was educated in the Public School System and graduated from Dobbins Vocational Tech. High School, where he majored in Printing.
In 1958 he enlisted the United States Army, and received an honorable discharge in 1961. After the Army he met and married Theresa Nutter on July 26, 1962. Later he joined Bible Way Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. McKinley Gaither and served as a Trustee. He worked in printing at American Fiber, in Collingdale, PA. until 1967 then he opened Lewis Allen's Printing Nook, and opened the shop every day for eleven years, until 1978. In 1981 he went to work for Thomas Scientific in the Printing Dept. in Swedesborough, N.J. until his retirement in 2002.
He received numerous Civic Awards to name a few: The White Spike Award, for outstanding Scoutmaster Leadership, The Johnson C. Smith, Alumni Community Service Award, The Chaplain of four Chaplains Award, and he also served one term as President of the 52nd Street Business Association. He was a devoted husband and father. Always had good advice and a helping hand.
A son and a Stepson proceeded him in death, also 2 brothers, Robert and Raymond and a nephew, Robert.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving and devoted wife Theresa, a sister Sandra Seay, 5 sister in- laws, Romaine Mayberry of Sunderland, MD, Hellen Allen and Aleatha Allen of Philadelphia, Edith Nutter of Lusby, MD and Janice Nutter of Harwood, MD. One devoted brother in-law Edward Nutter of Namticoke, MD, 3 grandsons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A devoted nephew Ernest Allen and two devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Corkery.
