Lewis G. Hurst was born November 17, 1946 to Edward Louis Phillips and Frances Carmella Williams in Houston, Texas.
Lewis graduated from B.C. Elmore Junior -Senior High School in Houston, TX. Where he became a member of the Dukes Club. He was an acclaimed athlete, in football and track. After high school, he was drafted into the United States military where he became a Radio Operator and Marksman. Lewis wanted it to be known he was against the Vietnam War.
Later, Lewis worked 14 years at Camden County Health Services Center in NJ, as an institutional attendant while majoring in psychology. After moving to Philadelphia, PA, he developed his coronary skills while working at the Hard Rock Café and Marriott Hotel as a chef. Lewis medically retired from the workforce in 1996.
Lewis was a member of the Ward A.M.E Church. He enjoyed singing in the choir and spending time with family and friends.
One of Lewis past times was sports. He was a loyal Philadelphia Eagles fan.
