Obituary for Marie Kinnard
Ms. Marie Kinnard was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 3, 1912 to the late Ephraim and Ellen Smith. After 100 years of Earthly service to our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ, he saw fit to call her from labor to eternal reward in Heaven.
She grew up on a farm in Sparta, Georgia. She was educated in South Georgia and had a passion for learning. As a life long lerner, she enjoyed conversing with people of different backgrounds on thoughtful topics as a way to improve her perspective on life.
Ms. Kinnard's religious roots were steeped in the African Methodist Church(AME). Her strong faith and religious commitment were a testimony for her unwavering love for her former church membership at Mt. Pisgah AME and her final home at Allen AME. She is recognized in the District AME office (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) as a major contributor in building and sustaining the AME Church.
Ms. Kinnard loved being around children. Her most important contribution was spent in the classroom as a teaching assistant for elementary school children. Children loved her caring spirit, sense of humor and ability to make learning fun. Her favorite saying was, "if you try hard enough to do something in life, then you will succeed". She believed her success in life was helping other people do better and bringing others with them. She was the epitome of a person with a big heart and a big smile.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 11:00 AM at Allen AME Church - 5901 Larchwood Avenue, Philadelphia, 19143.
