In the year of our Lord on September 12, 1931, a baby boy by the name of Charles Thomas Bowman was born to the late Richard J. and Shellie J. Bowman in Youngstown, Ohio. In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 4, 2012 God closed his eyes and welcomed him into the Kingdom of Heaven. He was the 10th child of 10 children, 8 preceding him in death.  Being the son of a Fire Baptized Holiness Church Elder, his family was transferred to Washington, DC where he attended grammar school.  While in Washington, DC, he was a member of Tried Stone, FBH Church.  The family was then transferred to New York City, but young Charles attended school in Philadelphia, PA while living with his older sister, Bernice and her family and graduated from Northeast High School.  He continued his education at Wheaton College in East Providence, RI and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.  He was saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1950 at Mt. Olive, FBH Church in NYC.  He was later called to the ministry and he then attended the Zion Bible Institute in Chicago, IL and received a degree in Theology.  He returned to Philadelphia and he taught for a number of years in the Philadelphia Public School System.  He was then employed by the State of Pennsylvania as a supervisor of the Department of Public Assistance for over 30 years from which he retired.Reverent Bowman was appointed as the Director of Religious Education on the Pennsylvania District and served in that capacity for several years.  He was responsible for many Christian educational programs and classes.  In 1989, he also spearheaded the D.R.E. Olive Rising Star FBH Church, Rancocas, NJ and St. Andrews FBH Church, Burlington, NJ.  In the Annual Convention October 2011, he was appointed as District Father of the Pennsylvania District and with this appointment, although he was ill, he had great faith and aspiration to build a church in Burlington, NJ but the Lord took him home to his mansion in the sky.He leaves to cherish his memory 3 devoted caregivers, his sister, Jeanette Ward and nephews, Troy and Duane Frazier; 1 sister-in-law, Pearleana J. Bowman.  Although he had no biological children of his own he had 3 godchildren, Christopher Walker, Kevin Walker, Jr. and Jessica E. Saunders; 1 spiritual daughter, Rev. Ruby M. Walker and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

A viewing has been scheduled for Saturday, March 10, 2012 9AM at Gethsemane FBH Church located at 2629 York Street Philadelphia, PA 19132.  The funeral service will begin at 10AM.  Entombment - Valley Forge Memorial Garden in King of Prussia, PA.
