Life Story
Ruth received her education through the Philadelphia school system as a young child graduating from John Bartram High School in 1946. After graduating, she trained at Franklin Day Care Center working with Pre-K children and 5th graders for two years.
Ruth met her husband Marvin Robins and from this union they had and raised seven beautiful children. While caring for her family, she also attended night school for clerical, bookkeeping, filing, and studying English and typing for two terms.
Ruth also attended the Philadelphia of Nursing where she received her LPN license. While doing her studies, she also held down several jobs on top of being a caretaker for her mother. Ruth was very big on family.
Ruth later met and married Mathis King and they had a blended family with both their children.
Ruth joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church May 12, 1968. She loved attending and dressing up for church. She prayed for everyone. She was a longtime member until her health took a toll on her.
Ruth loved cooking, baking (especially her famous carrot and cream cheese pound cakes), sewing, entertaining, and making everyone happy. Anyone who met her loved her dearly. Ruth was everyone*fs Mom-Mom, and everyone was her *gSweetie Pooh*h.
On August 11, 2022, God called his precious angel home. She lived her 97 years on this earth to the fullest and she will be missed tremendously. Ruth leaves to cherish her sweet memories her seven children: Marvin, Brenda, Jacqueline, Barry (Wanda), Edward (Yvette), Rueben (Gina) and Ruby (William), 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson Zhane, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
