Obituary for Sarah Lee Cole
The Obituary

Sarah Lee Cole was born on December 14, 1944 to Alice Pearl Harris and Freddie Dreuitt in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was the tenth child out of eleven children.

Sarah was educated in the public school system of Virginia Beach, graduating from Union Kempsville High School. She later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania eventually furthering her education with classes from the Automotive Academy, Inc. Company.

Soon after moving to Philadelphia, Sarah met and married James Willie Cole. Together they had four children and were married until his passing in 1970. Many years later, Mom met Mr. Ali Sesay, after an extended courtship, they married and had one son.

Sarah was a member of the Church of The Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, where she was reborn and breed. She was a dedicated member and will be missed by the congregation in which she shared her life.

She worked at Chester AA. Arthur School. After that, she moved on to be employed by the Philadelphia Free Library on Vine Street. She was last employed by The Center of Disease Control, where she retired after many years of service.

Sarah was a dedicated mother and had a special relationship with each of them. When they were young, mom not only doubles as a cook and baker, but a seamstress as well. She was talented, making many of the children’s outfits just by looking at them.

Sarah will be remembered for her perky, outgoing personality and her love for people. She was full of compassion, and had a open door policy, if you were hungry, she fed you. Even if wronged, she forgave, and encouraged others to not only forgive but to pray for each other. Simply put, she was a beautiful person.

You could often find her on the phone talking to family and friends. She enjoyed her chewing gum, peanut chews, starlit mints and butterscotch, you could say Mom had a sweet tooth.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Freddie Dreuitt; her husband, James Willie Cole, Sr.; her son, Baldwin Emanuel Cole; and her second husband, Ali Sessay.

She leaves to cherish precious memories by; her children, James Cole, Gwendolyn Cole, Sharon Cole and Samuel Sesay Cole; her sister, Clara Sills, ten grandchildren; five great-grands; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
