Valerie Scott was born May 6, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the cherished daughter of the late Clementine Isom and George Scott and was raised alongside her four brothers.
As a young girl, Valerie displayed a natural curiosity and passion for learning. She received her education in the school system of Philadelphia and she embraced the opportunity to explore new knowledge. Soon after graduating from Overbrook High School in 1974 Valerie moved to Miami Florida and lived with her family where she pursued an education in healthcare. She enjoyed the life that Miami had to offer but soon realized she missed her hometown.
Back home in her professional life, Valerie made an impact as a private duty nurse, an insurance medical examiner, and a surgical technician. She really enjoyed her career as a surgical tech and worked at the University of Pennsylvania for 13 years.
Valerie was the loving wife to Anthony Richie and a devoted mother to two beautiful children Antoine and Melanie. She cherished family above all else and created countless precious memories with loved ones. Valerie had a kind and nurturing soul and cared deeply for others but maintained her feisty spirit.
In 2009 Valerie was faced with kidney failure. Even Though faced with renal disease and other health complications she always emerged the survivor she was and demonstrated remarkable strength. We all remember her vibrant and outspokenness and she was known for her unapologetic honesty. A social butterfly by nature she was truly the life of the party. Valerie's caring nature extended to her children, grandchildren, siblings, family, and friends. As she was always there to lend a helping hand. We will celebrate the memories of laughter and happiness she brought to our lives. Valeris is truly unforgettable.
