William Kenneth Stevens Sr. was born June 20, 1938, to the union of James and Ruth Stevens in Philadelphia, PA. William was second youngest of four children; James, Donald and Rosemary.
William Kenneth Stevens Sr., matriculated in the Philadelphia public school system, graduating from Northeast High School, where he found his love for learning and excelled in the sports of swimming and track and field. William went on to earn a BA degree from Cheyney University and a MA degree from Temple University.
On July 11, 1964, William married the love of his life, the late Francine G. Mickens. From this union, they had two children William Jr. and Traci. William and Francine shared 21 years of a loving marriage until the Lord called Francine home.
In his early career, William taught in the Philadelphia public school system. After teaching in the school system, William changed careers to corporate sales, selling computer software for Control Data Corp., where he received numerous awards. These awards included the 100% Club, which was a distinction for top salesman in the corporation. As a result of this distinction, William was able to continue to pursue his love of travel by going to London, Greece and Paris. William returned to teaching grade school in the School District of Philadelphia until he retired.
William was an avid reader and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. As a member, he enjoyed the brotherhood of the fraternity and attending various functions over the years. William enjoyed spending time with cherished friends like Larry and Barbara Stallworth, whom he introduced to one another. William also found a new partner in life, Jeanette Phillips, until her passing in 2018. William accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and enjoyed the fellowship at Salem Baptist Church.
William was also a diehard Philly sports fan. He especially loved the Eagles and loved to scream at the TV as if the players and coaches could hear him. William always solved to spend time with his family ,telling stories and jokes with his brother Don, sister- in law Lillian, his sister Rosemary and the entire family.
On October6, 2023, at the age of 85, the Lord took William to the room that he had prepared for him in the Father’s house.
William leaves to cherish his memory: His children William Jr. (Tonie) and Traci (Keith); Grandchildren Kennadi, Jordan; Sister- In law Lillian, Niece Renee; Nephews: Don Jr.(Cheryl), Bruce(Priscilla), Craig(Trina); Grand Nephews and Nieces: Andre, Erik, Rashan (Lori), Antonio, Christopher (Shaylah), Edward (Kiuania), Cinnamon, Emani, Aaron, Solomon, Serenity and Dai’Osha.
Bill will be forever missed!
