Life Story
YVONNE PARRISH WHIPPLE was born on November 22, 1945. She was the second child born to Minnie
Lloyd-Griffin and Jessie Griffin.
She was married to John R. Whipple for fifty-eight years until he preceded her in death. From this union three
children were born, John R. Whipple Jr., Lonzo William Whipple and Deneen Sherise Whipple.
“Vonnie,” as she was affectionately called, was educated in the Philadelphia school system.
Vonnie was a beautiful mother who provided not just for her children, but any child that approached her home.
Vonnie was a shopaholic, she loved shopping, whether it was jewelry, shoes or clothes, and especially at
Pathmark for food.
Vonnie was employed by the Psychiatric Center of Philadelphia for fifteen years; she was also employed at
Rosemont College and SEPTA, where she later retired.
Vonnie has left us with precious memories and she will truly be missed.
Yvonne was preceded in death by: her sister, Edna Gallman; and one grand-daughter, Rickell.
Yvonne leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, John Whipple, Jr. (Deborah) and Lonzo Whipple (Linda); one
daughter, Deneen Whipple-Manire (Rick); four grandchildren, John, William, Lakeisha (Mook) and Nicole; two
bonus grandsons, Angelo and Adrian; six bonus grand-daughters; one great-granddaughter, Janiyah Whipple; two
bonus great-grandsons; one sister, Priscilla Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
