Obituary for Cordie W. Russ, III
Cordie Worthington (Tim) Russ, III was born October 12, 1944, the only son to the late Mary Jane and Cordie W. Russ, Jr.. On Monday, February 20, 2012 he began his journey home.Cordie was born in Philadelphia, PA and was brought up in the Philadelphia Public School System.Cordie had an abundance of 1st cousins that served as brothers and sisters.Extremely bright and highly intelligent, Cordie was an excellent student. Upon graduating from West Philadelphia High School, he went on to his beloved Howard University where he joined many family members making Howard University a family legacy.He was a member of Nu Gamma Alpha, Inc., Gents Limited Fraternity. He also took serious pride in being part of the group "Old Friends, New Beginnings". Cordie later, also attended, American University and Cheyney University.His distinctive flair was his love for his wife, family and friends. Cordie had various careers in social work, teaching and the catering industry.Cordie's cool and smooth demeanor was simply unmatched, his laughter warmed us all.On February 22, 2011 after a long relationship he married his beloved wife, Gloria.He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Gloria; children, Brooke, Megan(Remy), Angela, Kristin, Cordie W.(Tim) IV and Donna(Cashmere); 9 grandchildren, Nia, Demetres, Nyri, McKenzie, Rafi, Shiloh, Dylan, Siani and Devon; mother-in-law, Jeanette Norman; sisters-in-law, Barbara Norman and Cecile Johnson; brother-in-law, Elton Norman; 1 aunt and a host of family and friends as well as Ryann and Micah whom affectionately called him "Daddy".
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 10:00 AM at St. Jude Baptist Church located at 38th & Wallace Streets. The funeral service will start at 11:00 AM. Interment to conclude privately.
