The Obituary
Kathleen Finney was born on February 18, 1962, to the late Dorothy and Leonell Finney. Also affectionately known as “Kathy, Kat, Kat-Attack, and Mouth.” She was the youngest of three siblings. Kathy met her first true love Dean in 1980, and out of that union, they conceived three beautiful daughters Raquel, Ryshanna, and Cashimere. Kathy later in life met and married her husband, Kevin, in 2012 until her untimely death.
Kathy was born and raised in Philadelphia on 5100 block of Walton Avenue. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and graduated form University City High School. She also completed a training program and obtained her Diploma in Business Administration. After obtaining her diploma, she worked various jobs , later realizing that was not her calling, and worked as a blackjack dealer at the Sands Casino in Atlantic City. If you knew Kathy, you know she was a gambler at heart and love family gatherings and was always ready to play a game of bingo, spades, pitty-pat, pinochle, backgammon, Pokeno, 21 or 500 and any game money was a factor. She was always the life of the party.
She was very outspoken; she did not bite her tongue for anyone; to know her is to love her. Her big and loving heart was one that provided many shelter, meals, comfort, and love too many to tell you that she had your back. Kathy was the “favorite aunt” and a second mom to many as she always kept it honest and taught you life lessons all at the same time.
Although she was affectionately known as “”Mouth” and “Kat-Attack” to many, her love and affection for everyone in her circle of life never changed in her heart as she was your “ride or die” no matter the day or time. One of her famous encouraging words was “Only the Strong Survive.”
Kathy leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: her husband, Kevin; three loving daughters, Raquel, Ryshanna, Cashimere, and extended daughters Kahdece and Kaneesha; two sisters, Patricia (John) and Diane; one brother, Rufus (Brenda); three grandchildren, Kyeem, Mahki and Mila; one uncle, Roy (Helen); six nieces, Lynn Tonja, Tammy, Tima, Trina, and Rashiah; partners in crime, cousins, Lonnie “Bones” and Lenny “Legs”; goddaughter, Shatina Wackens; childhood best friends, Joy, Darlene and Saabirah; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
