Jonathan Mark Jones was the first born from the union of Samuel B. Jones and Gendolyn R. Jones on September 18, 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Affectionately called “Mark,” by his family, “Daddy” by his daughter, and “Jon” by his friends.
He spent his early years growing up as a proud Philadelphian among his siblings, Karen, Barclay (Keith), and Lawrence (Todd). As a young child, he had a fascination for electronics, model building, movies, and music that followed him into his adult life.
Mark joined the Untied States Marine Corps in 1977 where he specialized in engine rebuild, completed his Diploma in Okinawa, Japan, and returned to the states where he was stationed in Virginia until completing his services in 1980 when he was honorable discharge.
Upon returning home, he picked up his relationship with whom he would forever call, “The Love of His Life,” Rita Redfern. Mark met Rita at the young age of 16 while out roller skating with friends. They would marry in 1984. From this union, a daughter, Avrielle, was born. Though this union would end, he forever had a second family among the Redferns.
Through the years, Mark used his computer and technical skills during his employment at Gola Electronics, Natinoal Envelope, and Saeplast. Employed at the VA in Coatesville, and last an independent driver he enjoyed his interactions with people.
While Mark found pride in his work, he was no stranger to having a good time, enjoying his many interests. Upon them were playing games, especially Dominos and Pinochle, to being a thrill seeker at amusement parks and water sports. He also had a love for cooking, the newest technology, talking, sharing stories, watching sports or the newest sci-fi movies. He was a bonfire “TREKKI”, in which he passed down to loved ones.
He cherished spending time with his siblings, family and a host of friends in Philadelphia as well as his Coatesville community. You could always count on being greet by Mark’s booming voice, joyful personality, and his genuine interest in those he cared for. He was also known for the occasional “trash talk” during games.
Mark was so strong in spirit as he overcame many of life’s challenges. He was unexpected called to glory on December 2, 2021. He is survived by: his daughter, Avrielle; siblings, Karen, Barlcay (wife, Trinia), and Lawrence (wife, Laciana); his aunt, Terri; a host of loving nephews, nieces, and family members. He will be greatly missed as a father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Peacefully submitted, The Family
